The original Tyee High School in SeaTac, part of the Highline School District, is being replaced with a new building. I am part of the team put together by BOLA Architecture + Planning to document the old building. Our documentation will go to the WA State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (WA DAHP), as well several local archives. The photography was done with a traditional view camera using film, in order to meet federal Historic American Building Survey (HABS) standards. The buildings were built in 1963, soon after the Space Needle was completed, and in my opinion show the same enthusiasm for experimenting with architecture. Most of the the buildings are 14 sided, while the larger one is 28 sided. Among the original buildings, only the gym was rectangular.
